Thorsten Schwede

Torsten Schwede is Professor for Structural Bioinformatics at the University of Basel and SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics. He studied chemistry in Bayreuth and Freiburg, followed by Ph.D. in protein crystallography and a postdoctorate at GlaxoSmithKline in Geneva. During his career he served as chair of the ELIXIR board and Vice President for Research at the University of Basel. From 2025, he will be President of the Research Council of the Swiss National Science Foundation SNSF.
