Patricia Lucie V. Doumbe is currently a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medecine supporting the CEASE project (Controlling Emergent An. Stephensi in Ethiopia and Sudan). She obtained her Ph.D. in 2022 with a project funded by a senior Wellcome Trust Fellowship and aiming to implement larviciding in the city of Yaoundé, Cameroon for controlling mosquitoes and reducing malaria transmission. The work was carried out at OCEAC, a research institute of the Central Africa region based in Yaoundé. Patricia's research is mainly focused on malaria, parasitology, entomology, drug resistance, genomics, and bioinformatics. She has also carried out various activities including entomology surveillance in remote areas with the National Malaria Control Program. As a member of national and international professional organizations, Patricia advocates for gender equity in vector control. Besides, she is involved in social activities to empower women in science and promote a better life for communities.
I want to contribute to the innovation and implementation of tools aiming to reduce and eliminate vector-borne diseases. I want this because vector-borne diseases especially malaria represent a great public health problem worldwide. Most people suffer from it regarding the high number of cases recorded worldwide. There is a need to save lives through our research. I can do this because I am a passionate medical entomologist with a major in Parasitology and a minor in Molecular Biology.
Patricia Lucie V. Doumbe participated at the Female Science Talents International Spring Gathering 2023 and Female Science Talent Intensive Track 2023
