Nora Linn Strotjohann is a physicist and specialized in astroparticle physics and astronomy. At the Weizmann Institute of Science she investigated how stars explode as supernovae and contributed to building a novel type of astrophysical observatory. She recently returned to Germany and now works in the remote sensing department of the German Weather Service. Her current focus is improving the prediction of summer thunderstorms that can be destructive and form rapidly. To do so she is looking for the optimal way to combine radar observations and the predictions from numerical weather models.
