Michaela Prothiwa

Michaela Prothiwa is an assistant professor of Chemical Biology at the University of Antwerp, Belgium. Her research focuses on how the immune system interacts with harmful bacteria to develop new antibiotics and infection treatments. Her team studies bacterial proteins and the molecules they produce, and they create tools to visualize these interactions. By combining chemistry and biology, her work enhances our understanding and ability to fight infectious diseases. She is also passionate about science communication, honored with the KlarText award.
