Matthias Tschöp is President of Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and was previously CEO of Helmholtz Munichas well as Vice President of the Helmholtz Association. He is internationally recognized for unraveling fundamental gut–brain signaling pathways and, in collaboration with Richard DiMarchi, for developing dual and triple gut hormone multi-agonists—novel therapies for obesity, with a first representative already approved for clinical use. He has received numerous awards, including the Banting Medal, the Heinrich Wieland Prize, and the Ernst Schering Prize, and holds affiliations with leading academic institutions and scientific academies worldwide.
