Dr Kaylene Cooper is a dedicated STEM educator, Manager of Wonder of Science, and vertebrate palaeontologist. She joined Wonder of Science at UQ in 2018 as Program Officer and has managed it since 2022. Kaylene holds a Bachelor of Science with First Class Honours and a PhD from the University of Queensland. She has also worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate and is an experienced science communicator, engaging in school visits, STEM events, and media appearances.

Kaylene Cooper's 2024 Falling Walls Engage Winner Project is Wonder of Science.

Wonder of Science fosters a strong STEM culture in Australian students aged 9-15 through term-long inquiry tasks aligned with the Australian Curriculum. The programme, hosted by the University of Queensland, engages students, teachers, and communities by bringing together PhD candidates, industry, and government partners. It supports underrepresented groups, promotes ethical STEM discussions, and inspires the next generation of leaders focused on sustainability and STEM careers.
