Kai Sicks

Kai Sicks has been Secretary General of the DAAD since April 2021. After studying German Studies and Political Science in Frankfurt am Main and Vienna, he received his doctorate in Modern German Literature from the University of Vienna in 2008. He held research fellowships at institutions including the German Historical Institute in Washington, D.C., and Cornell University in the US. From 2008 to 2013, Kai Sicks coordinated a European doctoral network in the humanities and cultural studies at the International Graduate Center for the Study of Culture (GCSC) at Justus Liebig University Giessen. From 2013 to 2021, he worked at the University of Bonn, initially as Managing Director of the Bonn Graduate Center and, from 2017, as Head of the International Office. Kai Sicks is a member of the Boards of Trustees of the German University in Cairo (GUC), the German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech), and the Turkish-German University (TDU).
