Jana-Verena Gerhart is a consumer psychology researcher and a studied classical cellist. In her research at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, she combines the worlds of artistic creation and scientific research. Jana has composed and empirically tested musical stimuli that scientists can use to elicit emotions in experiments. She also examines the role of emotions on preferences for different properties of artworks. Intrigued by the potential of blockchain technology, Jana treasures exchanges with entrepreneurs who have set out to solve meaningful problems in the realm of (digital) creation, and identity expression.
I want to uncover insights that let us better understand the role of blockchain technology in the fields of art and digital identity. I want to do this because these insights can enable society to make better-informed decisions shaping the values and structures underlying the online worlds that we will surround ourselves with in the future. I can do this because my background and skills help me building bridges among scientists, artists, policy makers, and entrepreneurs.
Jana-Verena Gerhart participated at the Falling Walls Female Science Talents Intensive Track 2023.
