Jana Havlíková serves as the Deputy Minister for Science, Research, and Innovation of the Czech Republic, with responsibilities centered on science diplomacy, international research and innovation partnerships, research security, and knowledge application. Her interests extend to semiconductor research, strengthening supply chain resilience, and advancing technologies such as quantum computing and AI. Previously, Havlíková was involved in academia with a focus on strategic management. From 2014 to 2017, she held the roles of Chief Advisor and Head of the Minister’s Cabinet at the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. Earlier, she played a key role in international compensation programs for victims of slave and forced labor and other Nazi war crimes, under the auspices of Germany’s Remembrance, Responsibility and Future Foundation and Austria’s Fund for Reconciliation, Peace and Cooperation. Havlíková has long been engaged in non-profit efforts focused on documenting Nazi-era injustices, preserving survivor memories, and upholding democratic principles and human rights. She earned her Master’s in History, specializing in international relations and diplomacy, as well as in Czech Language and Literature, from Charles University in Prague.
