Holger Spiegel

Head of Department of Plant Biotechnology Holger Spiegel is a passionate plant biotechnologist. For over 20 years, he has been addressing the question of how plants can be used as “green bioreactors” to produce pharmaceutically or economically valuable molecules. His work on plant-based vaccines laid the technological foundation for an automated platform that contributed valuably to containing the corona pandemic in recent months.
