Geoffrey Spinks

Geoffrey Spinks is currently Senior Professor in the Australian Institute for Innovative Materials at the University of Wollongong and Director of UOW Makerspace. He received his PhD from the University of Melbourne in 1990 for his work on the mechanical behaviour of polymers and he has maintained a research interest in this area specialising in mechanical actuator materials (artificial muscles). His current interests include new product development (such as medical devices and prosthetics) and new manufacturing methods (such as 3D printing) that utilise his artificial muscle materials.
