Diederik S. Wiersma

Born in the Netherlands and PhD at the Univ. of Amsterdam in 1995. He is president of the National Metrology Institute INRIM in Turin, professor in physics at the University of Florence, and department head of the photonics materials area of the LENS laboratory. His research interests lie in the fundamental properties of photonic materials and their applications for energy, environment, and health. He received various awards including Ugo Campisano, the premio Tartufari for physics, and the Enrico Fermi prize.
