Maja Kokot designs, synthesizes, and characterizes novel bacterial topoisomerase inhibitors (NBTIs) with broad antibacterial spectrum activity.
Maja Kokot completed her master’s degree at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Pharmacy, in 2019. She is currently a PhD student of the interdisciplinary doctoral programme in Biomedicine at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Pharmacy. She is working as a young researcher at Theory Department at National Institute of Chemistry in Ljubljana. Her research topic is the design and development of novel bacterial topoisomerase II inhibitors (NBTIs) as a new class of antibacterial agents. Her field of experience covers computational drug design, organic synthesis and biological evaluation.
