Transfer of Technologies: Bringing Deep Tech of Big Science Research to the Market.
ATTRACT is a unique funding instrument of the European Commission designed to tap into the world-class deep tech developed by Europe’s world-renowned scientific research infrastructures like CERN, European Southern Observatory, European Synchrotron Radiation Facility, and some 600 others. These research infrastructures normally cannot use off-the-shelf technologies. Rather, they require unique solutions to formidable engineering problems that severely challenge technology suppliers, and thereby serve as incredible drivers of innovation. As such, the detection, imaging, and computational technologies developed for advanced scientific measurement and analysis have tremendous potential for many other high-growth industries based on deep tech. Their significance and versatility have recently come center-stage, as bioinformatics, neutron scattering, and hard- and ultra-short x-rays are critical tools to understand the inner protein structures of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
