Native Scientist connects children and scientists across Europe using a new concept integrating science and language learning (STEM+LANG). Our educational and empowerment programme targets migrant children who are twice as likely to underachieve in science than non-migrants. In school workshops using a speed-dating format, the project brings together 20 children and 4 scientists with a common heritage language to talk about science in a fun and meaningful way. Native Scientist broadens the horizons of children and empower scientists.

Joana believes in science and innovation for the benefit of humankind. This made her a passionate scientist, science communicator and social entrepreneur. While doing her PhD in Microbiology, she co-founded Native Scientist, a social enterprise that connects children with scientists across Europe to promote scientific literacy. Joana loves spending time with her family and friends, especially around a dinner table.
