Xiyue Zhang argues that we need to improve osseointegration in patients with osteoporotic fractures after implantation of fixation screws and reduce the risk of secondary fractures and screw loosening. Using a TiCu alloy can enhance the fixation stability and accelerate osteointegration, thus reducing the risk of aseptic loosening during the long-term implantation in the osteoporosis environment.
Zhang Xiyue is a Master’s student at the Institute of Metals, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Her research field is the biofunctionalization of medical metal materials.
