Environmental Change: Christian Scharun investigates missing greenhouse gas emissions in datasets that contain reported data from the countries and is developing a method to adjust them with the aim of better understanding climate change.
Christian Scharun is a climate researcher and science communicator. He holds a PhD in physics and works as a Postdoc at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). In his work, Scharun deals with the emissions of greenhouse gases and their contribution to global warming, where he is involved in the development of climate models together with many international partners. In November 2021, his work was awarded as a Breakthrough of the Year at the Falling Walls Science Summit. In 2022, Christian Scharun won FameLab Germany, one of the largest competitions for science communication in the world. He also regularly performs at science slams and communicates climate science in many different formats like Twitter or YouTube.
