Science Slam Canada is a non-profit organization that runs science outreach events across Canada. Our events are hosted in community venues – bars, cafes, and theatres – and aim to share science with an adult audience in an engaging way. Science slams are structured as judged competitions, with speakers including researchers, communicators, and artists. Creative ways of communicating science are encouraged, and past shows have included talks, poetry, raps, dances, comedy routines, and more.

Alan Shapiro is a Vancouver, Canada-based water, sustainability, and science communication professional. He teaches Sustainable Business at the BC Institute of Technology (BCIT) and Science Communication at Simon Fraser University (SFU), and runs an independent consultancy working with organizations around water and sustainability challenges. Alan is co-founder and chair of Science Slam Canada, a non-profit organization that runs science outreach events in communities across Canada.
