In the current study, we used bioinspiration educational programs for adults, taking place at the zoo as part of lifelong learning. Bioinspiration is an interdisciplinary methodology in which biological principles are applied to human challenges with a sustainable development emphasis, through innovative design. We used hands-on activities with wildlife to satisfy participants’ interest and curiosity to nature, to engage them with science and biodiversity conservation.

Michal Topaz is a researcher in the field of Bioinspiration and Zoo education. She established the Bioinspiration education unit at the SAFARI Zoological Center Ramat Gan and is a researcher at the Faculty of Education in Science and Technology, Technion – Israel institute of technology. Michal provides her audience the opportunity to be as close to wildlife, and with her talent to tell a good story, she engages the public with science, sustainability, and nature conservation.
