Breaking the Wall of Recycling CO2 in Mining
Carbon neutral mines could soon be a reality. During Jessica Hamilton’s PhD (Monash University, 2018), she developed low-cost and low-energy strategies to turn mining waste into valuable mineral products and offset CO2 emissions, which are now being trialled by industry. At ANSTO’s Australian Synchrotron, Jessica integrates laboratory and synchrotron characterisation at the micro-scale with field-scale applications. Her research passion lies in discovering new ways to utilise waste materials, such as enhancing carbon sequestration, soil formation, and trace metal recovery from mining residues.
