Prof. Richard Baraniuk is a visionary pioneer in open education, launching OpenStax in 1999 to improve educational access and learning for everyone. OpenStax has disrupted a broken textbook market, saving students $1.2 billion since 2012. Since COVID-19, demand for these resources has doubled. The expanding 42-course library is used by 4 million students in 61% of US colleges, 5,000 K12 schools, and 120 countries. OpenStax courses are free, openly licensed, and customizable. Moreover, OpenStax is integrating its library with personalization technologies rooted in learning science research to help students learn more, better, and faster. OpenStax is a public good, helping students access high-quality, affordable resources to further their education.
