Mathematical structure permeates the natural world. Dr. Fathauer’s work blends mathematics with organic and inorganic forms from nature. This synthesis allows him to create novel and compelling artworks, realized as prints and ceramic sculptures. These derive their appeal from juxtapositions such as complexity and order; movement and balance; and geometric and biological character. They help us to see the role of mathematics in nature and ourselves and to stimulate our imagination and curiosity.
