UpNano
Presented by Denise Mandt Nominated by Technische Universität Wien UpNano has developed a high-resolution 3D printer that will revolutionise the way we produce microparts in the future. Possible products range from parts for telecommunication to personalised tissue models for the pharmaceutical industry. The ongoing trend towards miniaturisation places new demands on part design and production. Conventional 3D printing systems fail to produce microstructures with details in the micro- or nanometer range. The UpNano technology combines high resolution with high throughput in a patented process, enabling high-resolution production at economically viable costs. Furthermore, it makes possible a biocompatible printing process, where living cells can be mixed in biocompatible material solutions and printed directly or seeded on pre-fabricated structures. Besides the application in serial production of consumer and mass products, UpNano’s high-resolution printing system also has applications in research and development.
