Matthias Tschöp is President of LMU Munich and was previously CEO of Helmholtz Munich as well as Vice President of the Helmholtz Association. He is internationally recognized for his work inventing, together with Richard DiMarchi, dual and triple co-agonists — from the original concept and molecular design, through mechanistic elucidation, to clinical development — and harnessing GIP and glucagon action as novel therapeutic principles for weight loss. He has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Rolf Luft Award, the Broermann Award, the Banting Medal, the Heinrich Wieland Prize, and the Ernst Schering Prize, and holds affiliations with leading academic institutions and scientific academies worldwide.
