Xiaoxiang Zhu is the Professor for Signal Processing in Earth Observation at the TU Munich, heads the department EO Data Science at the German Aerospace Center, and is the Director of the Munich AI future Lab “AI4EO”. Her vision in research is AI and data science in Earth observation for tackling societal grand challenges, e.g., global urbanization, climate change and UN’s SDGs. To this end, she develops physical aware machine learning methods and big data analytics solutions to retrieve valuable and so far non-existing geoinformation from petabytes of data from satellite and social media.
