Stella Dörenbach is a PhD Candidate at CAU Kiel (Germany), researching the effects of complete automated evaluations of court decisions with an interdisciplinary approach that takes constitutional and philosophical examinations into account:  Her PhD research focuses on the datafication of jurisprudence, in the larger context of public and constitutional law, tech ethics, artificial intelligence and algorithmic decisionmaking in the court decision process. Her doctoral project is funded by a PhD scholarship from the Hans Böckler Foundation.

Prior to this, Stella studied law at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (Germany) and Université Paris Nanterre (France) and holds a bachelor‘s degree in philosophy from Freie Universität Berlin (Germany). She serves as an ambassador for Tech4Girls*, a Non-Profit Organisation teaching girls IT skills at elementary schools to fight the gender gap in STEM fields.

In addition, having an interdisciplinary background and being active as an artist herself for years, Stella is passionate about building a bridge between art and law and finding new and creative approaches to communicate beyond the walls of academia.
