A look back on the Science Summit 2022

Some of the most important researchers and thinkers of our time gather annually at the Falling Walls Science Summit from 7-9 November to discuss breakthroughs with global leaders in science, politics, business, and the media. We look forward to welcome the people who are finding solutions to the greatest challenges of our time in Berlin on the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.

The three-day programme of 2022 included inspiring keynotes, discussions and exciting pitches and a lot more on topics related to science, its communities and the opportunities connected to science and society. For those who were not able to attend in person, there were be possibilities to participate digitally via livestream. Science Breakthrough of the Year Presentations 2022

BREAKTHROUGH CONVERSATIONS 2022

Funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and in partnership with Springer Nature, the Breakthrough Conversations offerred the extraordinary chance to attend a live streamed interview with breakthrough thinkers and to engage with them in real-time.

The Breakthrough Conversations ran parallel to the main Science Summit programme on 8 and 9 November, with each interview lasting 25 minutes and focusing on our high-level guests’ individual research, career paths and experiences. The digital audience was encouraged to actively engage in the dialogue-oriented online meeting guided by a professional moderator provided by our cooperation partner Springer Nature.

Jury Members Science Summit 2022

The renowned juries, chaired by Helga Nowotny, President Emeritus of the European Research Council, identified the best admissions from academics and academic institutions, universities, research organizations, companies, foundations and research institutes. On 9 November 2022, the Science Breakthroughs of the Year laureates, carefully selected by our esteemed jury members and advisory boards from over 1,000 nominations, presented their groundbreaking work on the stage of the Falling Walls Science Summit 2022 in Berlin, captivating a global audience both in person and via livestream.
