Bart Verberck, Regional Executive Editor, Springer Nature, commented “Since the global pandemic – the role of and importance of science, scientific communication and discussion has become increasingly understood. As such the 2021 Edelman Trust Barometer showed that the greatest request from the public was to increase their science literacy. As an academic publisher, we have a large role to play in this – supporting our next generation of, and current, researchers in making scientific discoveries accessible, discoverable and understandable. Our partnership with the Falling Walls Foundation is a key example of that commitment – each year we see what pivotal work the Falling Walls Science Summit enables by engaging scientific thinkers and wider society from across the globe in exploring scientific breakthroughs, collaborating on ideas, and communicating science. The launch of the Breakthrough Conversations, is a great extension to this and we look forward to being a part of what will no doubt be some engaging conversations that continue to bring down walls in science.”
