Dr Karamba Diaby, born in 1961 in Marsassoum (Senegal), was the first black person born in Africa to become Member of the Bundestag in 2013. He holds a doctorate in chemistry. In 2017 he won a seat in the Bundestag for a second time. He is a member of the Committee on Education, Research and Technology Assessment as well as the Subcommittee on Civic Activities. In addition to this, Dr Diaby is Integration Policy Coordinator for the SPD parliamentary group in the Bundestag. Dr Karamba Diaby is married and lives with his wife and two children in Halle (Saale).
