Juan Carlos has held executive leadership positions at Cisco, AB Inbev, Oliver Wyman, Interbank Group and McKinsey & Co and has also acted on the advisory boards of Duke Energy and Raizen Energia S.A. He has founded several startups, starting with Bioingenieria Aplicada S.A. 35 years ago focused on developing advanced bioproducts in the Peruvian Amazon, and the Planetary Skin Institute, a Silicon Valley research and development corporation co-founded with NASA.

Currently he is the Chairman of SpaceTime Ventures (www.spacetimeventures.com) and SpaceTime Labs (www.spacetimelabs.ai) and has been a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Advisory Council for the last nine years designing and incubating innovation programmes to address global critical issues in energy, food and water security, climate risk management, tropical ecosystem protection and the inclusive bioeconomy. Juan Carlos is a founder of the Earth Bank of Codes (www.earthbankofcodes.org) and is a member of the Working Group of the Earth BioGenome Project (www.earthbiogenome.org). He holds a BEng in Chemical Engineering and a MEng in Biochemical Engineering from the University of Cambridge and completed an MBA at INSEAD.
