Noam Libeskind is the head of the cosmography and large scale structure group at the Leibniz Institute for Astrophysics Potsdam. His research spans cosmological scales from making maps of the largest scales of the universe to the formation of the smallest dwarf galaxies that swarm around the Milky Way. The one thing connecting these scales is gravity and dark matter – two of the greatest problems in modern physics. Libeskind was a professor at the University of Lyon-1 where he led the Near Field Cosmology group for 4 years. Before that he held a Gold Meir fellowship at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He received his PhD from Durham University and read part III of the Mathematics tripos at the University of Cambridge. He obtained his BSc in Theoretical Physics from University College London.
