MICHAEL S. BRUNO

Michael S. Bruno is the Vice Chancellor for Research at the University of Hawaii at Mānoa. Prior to his appointment, he was the Dean of the School of Engineering and Science, and Professor of Ocean Engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, New Jersey.
His research and teaching interests include ocean observation systems, maritime security, and community resilience. He is the author of more than 100 technical publications and has served on numerous advisory committees and boards, including Chairing the Marine Board of the National Academies; the Ocean Research Advisory Panel, and the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) Coastal Zone Community of Practice. He received the Office of Naval Research Young Investigator Award in 1991, and the Outstanding Service Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers in 1988 where he is also a Fellow.
