Prof. Françoise Baylis is University Research Professor at Dalhousie University in Canada. She is a leading scholar in the field of Bioethics who works at the intersection of policy and practice. Topics of interest include: women’s health, reproductive and genetic technologies, feminist ethics, and research involving humans. Her current research is on the body economy (payment for body tissues) and human genome editing.
Baylis is a member of the Order of Canada and the Order of Nova Scotia. She is an elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. In 2016, she was awarded the Distinguished Academic Award of the Canadian Association of University Teachers and in 2017 she was awarded the Canadian Bioethics Society Lifetime Achievement Award.
