Viel erreicht, noch einiges zu tun: 30 Jahre deutsche Einheit im Spiegel der Hochschulen.
Zum 30. Jahrestag der deutschen Wiedervereinigung ein kritischer Blick auf die deutsche Hochschullandschaft. Es wurde viel geleistet. Gleichzeitig bleiben offene Fragen und Aufgaben, etwa: Spielt es eine Rolle, ob eine Hochschulleitung Ost eine West-Biografie hat? Sind durch die Konzentration auf den Aufbau Ost Unwuchten entstanden? Spielen für junge Leute (heute noch) Ost- West-Klischees bei der Entscheidung über den Studienort eine Rolle? In einem exklusiven Format diskutieren Vertreterinnen und Vertreter von Hochschulen, Politk und Medien über Erfahrungen, Einschätzungen und Empfehlungen.

Dr Karamba Diaby, born in 1961 in Marsassoum (Senegal), was the first black person born in Africa to become Member of the Bundestag in 2013. He holds a doctorate in chemistry. In 2017 he won a seat in the Bundestag for a second time. He is a member of the Committee on Education, Research and Technology Assessment as well as the Subcommittee on Civic Activities. In addition to this, Dr Diaby is Integration Policy Coordinator for the SPD parliamentary group in the Bundestag. Dr Karamba Diaby is married and lives with his wife and two children in Halle (Saale).

Dr. Josef Lange studied Catholic theology, history and political science in Münster and Regensburg. His career includes positions at German Research Foundation, German Council of Science and Humanities. His tenure as HRK-Secretary General (1990 – 2000) was followed by positions as State Secretary for Science and Research Berlin, Head of Department Coordination in the Thuringian State Chancellery, State Secretary at the Ministry of Science in Lower Saxony (2003 – 2013). Josef Lange is Chairman Board of Trustees of the Hannover Medical School and the University of Vechta.

Prof. Dr. Johanna Weber has been Rector of the University of Greifswald since 2013. After studying Psychology and Media Studies at the University of Mainz, she went on to complete her doctorate and habilitation at the University of Bamberg. In 1994 she took on the Chair of Personality Psychology and Psychological Assessment at the University of Greifswald. She has held various roles in academic self-government and the management of science. She has been Vice-President of the HRK since 2014.

Peer Pasternack was 1989-1995 student representative of the University of Leipzig and speaker of the East German conference of student bodies. After completing his doctorate in Oldenburg, habilitation in Kassel. 2002-2003 State Secretary for Science in Berlin. Since eleven years Pasternack acts as head of the Institute for Higher Education Research at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) and teaches at the Institute for Sociology at MLU. In addition to his present-day work, he conducts research on the history of science in the GDR and on the transformation of science in the 1990s.

The historian led the research group “The Long History of the ‘Wende’” at the Leibniz Center for Contemporary Historical Research Potsdam. She is currently Fellow at the Max Weber College of the University of Erfurt. She received her doctorate in Bielefeld with a dissertation on German history, then moved to the German Historical Institute in London for six years, before completing her habilitation at the University of Tübingen. Before her studies she worked as a bookseller and after her doctorate as an editor for politics, economics and history.
