UNIBIRDS: Visions of Ancestral and Scientific Confluences through Art
Colombia is one of most megadiverse countries in the world, its climatic conditions and tropical location are amongst the main reasons for having the greatest diversity of bird species on the planet. This natural setting has influenced the work of the MA + CH artists to establish visual relationships from scientific thought and ancestral cosmogony. The UNBIRDS installation is a visual and sound revelation of the biodiversity of Colombia, to communicate the message of preserving our environment in times of climate change, from a holistic point of view and as a responsibility to ourselves. The artists Sergio MANTILLA and Miguel CHAPARRO will discuss their project UNIBIRDS, with experts: Luis Germán NARANJO, Ornithologist and Director of Conservation in WWF Colombia, Orlando ACEVEDO, Biologist at the Humboldt Institute in Bogotá, and ZUNIL LOZANO, anthropologist.
The UNIBIRDS installation will be displayed on the façade of the Paul-Drude Institute from November 1st to November 10th (Hausvogteiplatz 5-7, 10117 Berlin).
