Una Europa Talk: Resistance is futile. You will be digitalized!

Una Europa, 1 Europe, Freie Universität Berlin, Helsingin Yliopisto/ Helsingfors Universitet, Uniwersytet Jagielloński w Krakowie, KU Leuven | Günter M. Ziegler, Ahmed Mufti, Minna Huotilainen, Joanna Zabawa-Kalinowska, Christoph Benzmüller, Peter Lievens, Elisabeth Holuscha

The European University Alliance Una Europa: talking on our (new) daily business, digital collaboration.

Resistance is futile. You will be digitalized! This slightly altered quote from the Star Trek series describes some academics’ worst fears and others’ greatest hopes: The quantum leap in digitalization in the world of work as lately accentuated by the Covid crises was only the beginning. The future of university life will be much more digital, whether we like it or not. How universities will be transformed along this process and how their interaction with the outside world will change are two of the key questions of our first Una Europa Talk.

In our live conversation from four European cities we will discuss what the future of digital cooperation in academia might look like. How will digital tools influence our teaching practices? Which virtual platforms and tools might academics and researchers use in the future? Will live networking become a thing of the past? How does virtual team building work? What role will AI play in developing new agendas and new practices? And is the human brain actually made for working in virtual worlds?

One student and three scientists from the Una Europa community, all of them experts in various fields of digitalization, will discuss these and many more questions live from our studios in Helsinki, Krakow, Leuven and Berlin.

This Talk is the first in a series of “Una Europa Talks”, a format aimed at the entire Una Europa community, i.e. students, teachers, researchers and admin staff – as well as interested representatives from our partners and the public at large.

PUBLIC PANEL DISCUSSION VIA LIVESTREAM.

This is a digital event. Shortly before the event starts, the livestream will be made availble on this site. Add the event to your schedule and receive a reminder.
