Cancelled: Symposium “Quantum Computation – State of the Art and Applications”
This symposium provides an overview on the state-of-the-art of current quantum computers and reviews on their near-term and furture applications.
Quantum Information processing is currently one of the hottest topics in physics and the informational sciences. Nearly two decades have passed after the first proposals. Today after intense research activities among all platforms, only a few technologies have demonstrated actual quantum computations. They have matured to the point that large enterprises and start-up companies have begun to develop commercial quantum computers, some of which are already available on a cloud-based operation for small-scale computations.
The goal of this symposium is (a) to give an overview on the state-of-the-art of current quantum computation activities, especially concerning their technological advances and challenges, and (b) to provide a critical review on the available and potential applications of quantum computers. There is currently a worldwide race towards providing ever better quantum machines and algorithms. This one-day symposium intends to critically assess these activities and give a clear and realistic view on the vision and ongoing research efforts.
