Believing Empathy is Unlimited

Aalto University FI, Hebrew University IL | Einat Amir, Yossi Hasson

A live discussion of how perfomance art can be used to increase intergroup empathy and bring people together.

Intergroup empathy plays an important role in mitigating conflicts that cause the suffering of millions of people worldwide.

Unfortunately, people often fail to experience empathy toward outgroup members. Amir and Hasson from Aalto University and the Hebrew University have created a hybrid art and science model to combat this. Using theatre to immerse audience members into a live experiment, they successfully raised the level of intergroup empathy. Hundreds of people worldwide have joined the experiment to experience the educational process that contributes towards social change. In this webinar, the creators will discuss their past and future projects.
