The Falling Walls Engage Hub Sweden connects international and regional science engagement practitioners. At this network meeting, science engagers will explore the science engagement landscape in Sweden and Northern Europe.
The event is held in partnership with Vetenskap & Allmänhet (Public & Science). Participants will also visit the world-renowned International Science Festival Gothenburg and the Forum for Science Communication.
Science engagement is understood and practised very differently in each region. Sweden is a leader in science and innovation in Europe and has a tradition of investing in research and development. We will take a closer look at the Swedish/Northern European perspective and bring our global conversation to Gothenburg.
The International Science Festival Gothenburg is one of Europe’s leading popular science events and the only one of its kind in Sweden. The festival aims to communicate science to schools and the public in an accessible and stimulating way. It strives to find new ways to communicate science and to reach groups that are not familiar with research.
The Forum for Science Communication is the largest Nordic conference for science communication practitioners. The theme for this year’s forum is ‘From Vision to Reality.’ Speakers will discuss the future role of communicators, the impact of environmental activism, the online habits of Swedish people, and what happens when researchers start to care about what people really care about.
