Breaking the Wall of Urban Forests and Climate Change

I built a web app that allows people to help survey the trees in the cities, identify their species, keep track of their growth and help scientists to understand how trees react to climate change. With a simple formula, we calculate an approximate value of their Carbon fixation and he amount of oxygen that those trees contribute to the air we breath. It provides useful information to the local environmental authorities and raise the concern about the importance of urban forests.

Gustavo Morejón is a biologist, programmer, photographer and scientific illustrator with more than 30 years of experience on conservation and natural resources management. In his lifetime, Gustavo has helped to protect not less than 100.000 hectares of rainforests and he is involved on climate change science. Gustavo is working in the study of the urban forests and how this forests can contribute to mitigate the impact of climate change. In the meantime, he educates and raises concern of the situation with citizen science. Thus, he is the General Coordinator of SAVE.bio.
