Cancer is the leading cause of death in high-income countries. Over 9.6 million people die every year from cancer. This disease is also present in other species across the tree of life. I have mapped 1098 species on the map of Earth, according to their habitat and diet, and have shown that neoplasia prevalence is lower in species: 1) living in environments with many photosynthates (tropics & freshwater environments), and 2) eating many photosynthates (herbivores).
