The Falling Walls Lab Osnabrück set the stage for innovative ideas

11 outstanding young researchers from all fields presented their innovative ideas on 14 August 2014 at the beautiful Botanical Garden of the University of Osnabrück. The Jury consisted of high-ranked representatives of the industry and academia. The two most impressive presenters will pitch their work once more at the Falling Walls Lab Finale on 8 November 2014 in Berlin.

Meet the winners:

 

1st place: Anubha Garg (India), German Institute of Food Technologies (DIL) / TU Berlin - Breaking the Wall of Global Protein Security

Rising protein demand, which is expected to reach 100 million tons by 2030, is one of the great challenges humanity on a global scale has to face in the near future. Anubha Garg's PhD research focuses on meat analog production from plant proteins using high moisture extrusion to break the wall of global protein security with economically and ecologically sustainable means.

2nd place: Dr. Mehul Bhatt (India), University of Bremen - Breaking the Wall of Computer-Aided Architecture Design

In his work, Mehul Bhatt applies analytical and empirical scientific methods from cognitive science, artificial intelligence, and environmental psychology for providing a new paradigm advancing the theory and professional practice of architecture design.
