Pietro Barabaschi

Pietro Barabaschi, ITER Director-General since Fall 2022, has led the design and construction of multiple nuclear fusion research devices. After his Electrical Engineering studies, he worked in machine development at JET, then led design integration at the ITER international team in Munich. At Fusion for Energy (F4E), he led EU contributions to JT60SA (a large tokamak), IFMIF/EVEDA (a large linear accelerator), and IFERC (an EU/Japan R&D center); he was F4E Acting Director in 2015 and 2022.
