Carl Smith

Carl Smith is a multi-award-winning science journalist at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). He makes audio documentaries for Radio National and writes feature stories for ABC Science. He's currently a fellow at MIP.labor at the Freie Universität Berlin where he's building a project to show how AI is impacting every part of our lives - but often using biased datasets that perpetuate inequality. He's created and presented podcasts and radio series, been an ABC News Cadet, a geneticist, a children's news reporter, a 'Journalist in Residence' in Germany, and an animated presenter in a virtual world. Carl also writes and co-hosts the ethics podcast for kids, Short & Curly.
