TAU Systems is an Austin, Texas-based deep-tech company developing the first compact particle accelerators and light sources that combine the capabilities of large accelerators with a small footprint to provide easy and affordable beamtime access for any company. 

While conventional accelerator and light source facilities require miles-long campuses and billion-dollar budgets, TAU’s technology delivers similar performance at 1/100th the size and cost, enabling industrial applications beyond what has previously been possible. TAU spun out of the University of Texas at Austin, where CEO Bjorn Manuel Hegelich maintains his research group studying high intensity laser-matter interactions and their applications.
