Kiranmai Uppuluri

Kiranmai Uppuluri is an environmental engineer from India. In 2019, she was awarded the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship to work as a researcher in the EU project AQUASENSE at Lukasiewicz-Institute of Microelectronics and Photonics in Krakow, Poland. Her research is focused on materials that can be used as alternatives in platinum group metals-based sensors for applications in water and food quality monitoring. After the development of a novel pH sensing material and its successful application in an underwater, wireless, and real-time measurement device, Kiranmai continues to study cheaper and earth-abundant materials with a new interest in biodegradable sensors. Her vision is that of an affordable, fast, and reliable water quality testing system that does not produce any electronic waste at the end of its life.
