Dr. Greetchen Díaz, currently serving as the Director of the Science Education Program and Community Partnerships at Ciencia Puerto Rico (CienciaPR), boasts a remarkable track record of over a decade as a dedicated volunteer with the organization. During her tenure, she actively contributed to a multitude of projects spanning science communication, science outreach, and science education. Prior to her role at CienciaPR, Dr. Díaz assumed the position of Grants Program Director at the Puerto Rico Science, Technology and Research Trust, where she played a pivotal role in establishing Puerto Rico's inaugural local grants program. Her leadership extends beyond grant administration, as she also held the esteemed position of President of the Puerto Rico Society of Microbiologists, the local chapter affiliated with the American Society for Microbiology, where she continues to be a valuable member of its Board of Directors. Dr. Díaz's academic journey includes earning her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico-Mayagüez, followed by the completion of her PhD in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology at The Ohio State University. Post-PhD, she further enriched her scientific expertise with a postdoctoral research position at the Center for Virology at the University of Nebraska.
