Hannah Pool

Dr. Hannah Pool is a postdoctoral researcher at the Max-Planck-Institute for the Study of Societies. Her research focuses on borders, bordering processes, and migration trajectories. For her research, she conducted a multi-sited ethnography in Iran, Turkey, Greece, Bosnia and Germany. She has been a visiting scholar at COMPAS Oxford University, the Berlin Center for Social Sciences (WZB), and Columbia University. She studied international relations in St Andrews, Tehran, and Dresden.​ I want to rethink state borders. I want to do this because we need to reconsider the inequalities of mobility and their effects on societies. I can do this because as a sociologist, I listen, collect diverse perspectives, and combine divergent narratives.
