Dr Jahnavi Phalkey is a historian of science and technology, and a filmmaker. She is the Founding Director, Science Gallery Bengaluru which is Asia’s first, India’s only and the largest gallery in an international network of four galleries. Previously, Jahnavi held a faculty position at King’s College London. She was Fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin (2013-14). She was earlier an external curator to the Science Museum London (2012-2015), and has been a Scholar-in-Residence at the Deutsches Museum, Munich (2008). Jahnavi is the author of Atomic State: Big Science in Twentieth Century India (2013) and has co-edited Science of Giants: China and India in the Twentieth Century (2016). She is the producer-director of the documentary film Cyclotron (2020). Jahnavi was awarded the Infosys Prize in Humanities (2023) and a Devi Award for “public engagement with science” (2024).
