Dana is Chief Technical Officer and head of R&D at JeNaCell GmbH in Germany. She is one of the two founders of the young biotech company, which was awarded the “Falling Walls Science Start-Up of the Year” title in 2017. Dana is chemist by learning with specialisation in process design. In the years following her PhD in 2006, she developed together with Nadine Hessler the “Horizontal-Lift-Reactor” - process for continuous biotechnological cellulose generation, the core technology for JeNaCells innovative medical products. Besides her work for the company, Dana is senior lecturer for Pharmaceutical Technology at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena. She is author of numerous scientific publications and received in 2015 a German Habilitation degree (venia legendi). Her pioneering work was awarded on several occasions.
